Are Corydoras and Rosy Barbs compatible? I've read that they weren't. And if they indeed are.. Will the Cory's/Rosy Barb's adjust to the high level of pH. They like about 8 pH but I am running 8.3. I figure keeping my tank at about 75 degrees or so. I just want a good hardy bottom feeder that gets along great with rosy barbs.

A .3 rise in pH shouldn't be harmful unless their maxiumum tolerance is for 8.0 and no higher. As for their compatibility, my friend's mother had a trio of rosies and a single corycat along with some guppies... another friend had one angelfish, one rosie, one large neon, and a cory. I never heard of any problems with this. Maybe its when they get in larger groups that they become aggressive? Like with tiger barbs?

Anywho, that's all I have to offer on the matter. Oh, and that my corycat, Dora, is in pH of 8.4, temp 82-84 F currently and she's so fat and healthy that she's been laying eggs every month... I really need to get her a boyfriend... well, just get more cories period!! :P

My 55 gallon currently houses 8 tiger barbs and 4 corys. There have been no probelms with fin nipping, fighting, etc. They are even seen swimming together, almost 'schooling'. It might be the size of my tank, with a fair amount of silk plants which helps, but so far (6 months), no problems. :)

I have had no problems between them in my tank. :)

I think thesen two species togather will be fine and as far as the PH is concerned, the fish will adjust to the PH in your tank as long as it remains constant. When you have PH swings is when you will run into problems. However, I do think that 75 degrees is a little on the cool side for most tropicals. I would up the temp. to 76-78 degrees.

ok so 10 rosy's and and 5 cory's... sounds good :)

Rosy barb's like a max temp of 74... are you sure 76 would be okay?

Hmilstead- Just wondering what else you have in your 55? I want some long fin rosy barbs too!

I have the following in my 55:
6 Diamond Tetras
6 Long-finned Rosy Barbs
6 Spotted Cories
3 Dalmation Molies
3 Female Bettas
1 Bristlenose Pleco
12 Glolite Tetras that are moving to a new tank

My water's PH is 8.5, I only have two panda cories in the tank...will be getting a couple more later and they have been living very happily
