corys always hide

I've got five corys, two I bought a few weeks ago and three I just got a few days ago. They are all identical.

The problem is that they always hide behind rocks in the back of my tank. If I really look i can see a few at a time and sometimes a couple will come out and swim around together, but not often and never all five together at once. Is this normal?

It seems to be a problem for a few reasons. I'm afriad they arent eating and one might die in the back without me knowing for a few days. Also, obviously, I don't get to appriciate the fish if I can never see them.

I think the reason they are hiding may be that they are scared of my comming up to the tank and/or walking by. Is there any solution to shy fish?
I've also been having this problem with my two gouramis to a lesser degree but my thomasi cichlids and neons are unafriad of me.

My cories are the same, but they come out to eat and wim when the lights are off or when I'm not around. They are probally still getting use to you.

Give them time to adjust. They would come out once they get accustomed to their new environment. My bronze cories started out this way. Now they are out most of the time (but they still hide sometimes). All of them (except one) comes out and gets really excited when I go near the tank. Probably anticipating food or something.

i bought 3 about 4 weeks ago. they did the same for about a week, now they are all over the place

Mine did that also, you could try to give them a place "to hide" that you can see from the front of the tank, usually the more hiding places the more secure they will feel and the more they will start coming out
