I agree with the others here..your neons died from shock, stress, or poor health...then your other fish made a meal of the carcasses.

Agree. Quality of neons these days is often shocking. Losing a whole school happens, even in perfect conditions. And once a fish dies. the catfish will move in.
have you considered that suicides are statistically proven to be higher around the holidays? maybe they got tired of it all and flung themselves from the underwater pirate decoration some jackass gave you for christmas?
So I should take out the pirate decoration that shmeeb001 gave me and everything will be okay?

That's the last time I buy from Petco. I only bought them because they were 5 for a dollar which is half price. The Petcos around here are a shame. They are run by slack-jawed yokels and always have horrible fish.
