Corys with Cichlids?

One of those sounds like a Pink Convict and another one sounds like Melanochromis auratus. If those are the fishes in question, I would have to say "no go" when keeping them with cories.

These do look like them but im not sure if the pink convict is right because the fish i saw was white as in almost see through white.

In pets at home there are some really small cichlids. Some have a white body only about 2cm long woth big eyes and there are also 4cm fish, yellow with black and white stripes and about 2cm deep. Any ideas what these are?

If the white ones had the typical Mbuna body shape, my guess would be Pseudotropheus Socolofi albino.

I would agree with others that the best tank mates for Malawis are other Malawis or Synodontis catfish. Mbuna should be with Mbuna and stocked heavily and Peacocks/ Haps should be with Peacocks/ Haps.

I do keep Giant Danios with Geophagus Brasiliensis. There seems to be enough difference in body shape, coloration, etc., to prevent disputes. If you have a large enough setup, look into the synodontis cats.
