hi,
yesterday i added 2 corys to my other 4 peppered cories.I got one that i dont know what it is,very pretty though & a tiny baby albino. The baby seems to be rather clumsy, swims into plants etc & also when looking for food, swims right past it,even though its obvious to see.Do albinos have poor eyesight?

I'm pretty sure all cories have bad eye sight. They don't find food by sight but by smell. They're able to smell with their barbels (whisker looking things) and if those get damaged it makes it hard for the cories to feed because they can't find anything to eat. If you watch them, they'll swim along the bottom often squeezing their noses right down between the gravel (assuming you have gravel) and you can see them moving their little barbels. Its really cute I think, I have 11 of them and I love them.

I think you're right about the barbels, but I also recall reading at some time that albinos of any species tend to have weak eyes, at least in bright light.

They all have poor eyesight and "taste" through their barbels. I believe they are native to murky water (i.e. they quick surface gulps).
