everyone who said some readings would help are right on. that would tell you how bad your pollution is in there and then you'd know how much water needed to be changed out to make the tank conducive to staying alive

Forget cleaning it, the "look" is awesome. Just do water changes to bring down DOCs and nitrates, then stock it with some sunfish (how big is the tank). I love wild looking tanks, and that one is pretty wild.
Agree with mooman and mogurnda!
We keep our tanks so clean and nice, but nature isn't always like that. There are lots of fish that LOVE algae loaded water and grungy stuff.
