Hey there! Long time no post. Anyways, I have a small "critter keeper" I picked up at a local pet store. It holds probably 1-2liters of water. Betta in it died roughly 3 weeks ago since I emptied it and now I have nothing in it. Can I put a fiddler crab in there? Any other suggestions for the critter keeper would be appreciated. Also I have a 5g empty I was thinking of putting sand 1/4 the way up and have it sloped into water. For the water do I need to have a filter? I know I need some aquarium salt for the water.

for the fiddler crabs you will need marine salt, not the typical "aquarum salt" often used as a freshwater aquarium remedy, since these are brackish water animals.

Thank you very much for the tip! Anyone know anything about the filter question? Also do crayfish need a heater?

most crayfish available are North American, so they shouldn't need a heater. as for the filter, if you are trying to filter shallow water, you might try one of the submersible filters that you can lie flat in small amounts of water, or even one of those small disposable filters that run on an air pump.

The other day I was at petsmart looking at Fiddlers but I ended up buying a dwarf puffer instead because the chart said the fiddlers needed 20+ gallons of water. That didn't seem right...because they don't even move that much...but I played it safe and believed them.
