I have a 40 gallon tank which I have yet to stock. I am planning on buying an aquaclear 70 for it. Will that be enough water movement or do I need a powerhead? The tank will be planted with angelfish and other fish living in it. Also, what is the best heater for this size of tank and how many watts? Thanks!

Wouldn't that be too much current? (Just saw this when I thought I was going to watch a movie)

If you're dead set on AC, try a 110.
CB:

Agreed.

The 300GPH RATED capacity of the 70 will probably be insufficient.

You do not need (or want) a powerhead.

Visi-Therm Deluxe 200W.

AC 110 if you are set on a HOB...though I prefer canisters. 3-5 watts per gallon is a good range for heaters depending on where you keep your room temperature and if you have a closed top on the tank.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I should go for the 110 and not get a powerhead.

As for the heater, how many watts should I am for? The tank has a glass lid that mostly covers the tank. My room stays about 69-71 degrees on average. Is 3-5 watts per gallon about right?

Okay thanks! :)
