Covering my Fluorite?

So I have a planted shrimp tank, and although i enjoyed the fluorite color for a bit, i would like to put a light colored sand, such as pool filter or play sand, over top of it. What would I need to do in order to do this?

wash the sand,and place it over the gravel, not sure if the gravel will rise above the sand tho. good luck!

thanks! I stumbled upon an old thread which said some of it mixed, and even if it did if i put like an inch or 3/4 it will brighten up the bottom and be nice

I've never seen a tank with mixed sand/flourite that looked good.

My advice if you want sand as a substrate, remove the flourite and use 100% sand.

I think that my flourite provides a bit of color to the sand as it gets pushed up, but it wasn't a 100% mix. I only used flourite in certain areas around where I planted.

Keeping them separated will be next to impossible if you try to cap it that way. Other than some wall-like dividers, it will mess up your Flourite. Best as mentioned above, only use Flourite where you will have plants growing, use dividers and sand everywhere else.

Probably wouldn't try it again (I didn't find the fluorite to be much of a benefit) but it's an option.
