CP terrarium thread, continued

I trim when they are completely dead and then while I am doing that, I will trim some that are about half dead. As for the leaves, not until they are discolored and dieing. It is all about personal preference really, dead pitchers wont harm and thing, just unsightly.

Just an update. I plugged everything in and dumped the rest of my dried sphagnum moss in the tank, sprayed it and then dumped a half a gallon of water in there. Right now the temp is sitting at 73 and 95% (max it goes up to) probably because the sensor is wet. Sooo the humidifier has come on once yet. Lets see what tomorrow brings and to see if I need to put some heat cable in there to make things more toasty!

That's pretty much what I do too. With the leaves, I generally leave them there until they're totally brown.

I trim mine when they're halfway dead or completely dead, depending on what I want to do with them. I do want to take some dried pitchers and display them in a shadow box in an interesting composition.
How do you plan to dry the pitchers? I was reading somewhere that a guy took an adult pitcher from a truncata and dried/preserved it and used it as a beer stein. I've always wondered how that could be done. Sounds like we're all on the same page with trimming, so that makes me feel much better. :thm:

Wow I am an idiot. I um...put the fan in upside down yesterday. So I was pretty much humidifying my basement and that explains why I never actually saw any mist go into my tank. I just thought it was ninja mist.:headshake2:

And I also found scale on one of my N. raffles, I gave it a good trim, scrapped off any left that I saw and soaked it in bug killer. Using bug killer on a bug killer.:irked:

Something pretty cool is happening! I had a sarr plantlet that I thought was dead so I cut off all the traps and dropped it in my water tray and forgot about it. Well it started growing after a month or 2.

Here is a D. binata that I have no clue how it got here.

Everything looks great, Paul! LOL... I had the same problem when I was setting up my fans. Don't be too hard on yourself...

... that's what we're here for. :silly:

New plants come tomorrow! I had to put the heat cable in the tank because I could not get past 76F.

Mine mailed today... don't know if it'll be here tomorrow, but I'm hopeful!

I'm pretty sure you will get yours today since you are closer to them than me.
