Dang, dude. Your plants look great, and your pics are outstanding! Nicely done on both counts.
As far as helis go, they're not as bad as they are reputed to be. From what I understand, the straight species are a little more finicky than the hybrids. They need a really airy substrate that drains well. And you definitely don't want them in standing water. I think the biggest thing is keeping the temp during the day at 80 or below. They don't do well at all with high temps. As long as they get a 10 degree or so temp drop at night, they should be fine. Those are the two biggest things I can think of. I've used both the trichoderma and ferts on them with no issues at all. Actually mine has hit a pretty good growth spurt recently. I keep meaning to put up pics, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Other than that, the lighting requirements are pretty standard.
Good luck with the intermediate set up. IME with the intermediates I have, they're really easy. Might not even really need the tank. Once I move into my house, I'm going to fix up my rack a bit more, but I don't have to do anything really special to mine.
