CPR bakpak and DIY fuge

I am going to purchase a CPR bakpak skimmer soon for my 20 gallon reef tank. I also what to make my own fuge but I have no clue how to work with acrylic. I have all summer before school starts up again. Information on how to work with it would be great.

Also how does this setup sound?

The setup sounds good. No help on the DIY fuge, I'm afraid. My approach is to buy a cheap tank, either new or used and save time. I just bought a CPR aquafuge the last time, and it's been working great.
