Anyone else think that CPR overflows absolutely suck. I stupidly bought one a while back and it constantly sucks air and can't keep up with the ViaAqua pump I have running the sump. The CPR is a CS202 with 2 1" pipes rated for 1500 gph. Yeah right! The ViaAqua is the 4900 and rated for 1320 gph.

If you don't think they suck, then please tell me how to get it working at the capacity it is rated at.

BTW, I have a Tetra Luft pump hooked up to the air purge sucking the air out of it.

I don't have the CPR, does it use the U tube? We shortened our U tube in our overflow and it caught up with the pump. We're going to add a second U tube just so we can dial the pump all the way up. Not sure if that will help with the CPR.

I've never had a CPR overflow, but when I was looking to get an overflow box for our tank, I heard lots of bad things about CPR overflows and the amount of maintenance required to keep them working properly. We bought a U-tube style overflow box, which doesn't require an AquaLifter pump (or similar) to keep things working properly, and has proven to only require attention roughly every 6 months.

I've always been skeptical of ratings... I've seen statements claiming a 1" drain is rated for 700 gph, 650 gph, and 600 gph. While I understand that any bends in the drain will alter the gph, I wouldn't try to push more than 600 gph through a single 1" drain.
