Crab Bubbles

I'm sure some of you have seem them, a submergable 'room' attached to an air pump where a crab can get out of the water in a full aquarium.

Anyone know how effective they are?

not very, crabs need to get up onto somewhere dry, it's not in their instincts to go through the water and climb into something to get air.
in my experience they don't fare to well.

I used a large piece of driftwood to allow me crab to get air.
