i was just staring at the tank and this crab wearing a scarlet hermet shell climbs up on my toadstool and starts nipping at it.
the todstool has looked like crap all day today.anyway this crab
has light red legs and claw with 2 white stripes and the tips are white along with its body.shaped like a blue leg. i had 8 scarlet reef hermits and now have 1 and he looks nervous j/k. i dont know could this be some kind of predatorial crab or something?
i threw him in the fuge until i find out something.
 
Sounds like one of the not-reef safe varieties of hermit. Is he hairier than the other crabs? If so, he's likely going to get much larger, and not be reef safe at all--I've seen some the size of baseballs in with triggers and other aggressive fish.
