The 10g tank I bought from Craigslist turned out it had a crack. I should have checked.. It's already held water for a few weeks now, but I'm wondering if it will be OK in the long run. Here's a few pictures of the crack. The longest measurement of it is 1 cm. It looks huge in these pictures, haha. Should I be worried and get a new one?

with $13 you could of baught youself a new one at any store that sells fish tanks!

Does it leak?... a 10 gal tank doesn't really have THAT much pressure in it... if it's been holding up so far, and doesn't leak it'll PROBABLY keep behaving that way :)

But... for peace-of-mind... 10gal tanks are cheap, even brand new.

Not, it doesn't leak. I've been running fishless cycle in it for a few weeks now. It's probably in the 4th week. So far, so good.

In a lot of cases, people who start out with a small tank very quickly get more and bigger tanks :) If you have the space and means, I would suggest getting a 20g long and keeping the 10g as a QT / hospital tank.

As far as your cycle goes, if you move your substrate, decor, filter and water from one tank to another it shouldn't have any effect on your cycling process.

Good luck!

Funny you should mention that; I started out with a 10g but wanted more, so I bought another tank 10g (this one above) to keep things more manageable in my tiny apartment! I guess that's the natural course, haha.

Doesn't look like a crack to me..more of a chip on the outside edge of the tank or a deformity caused by a collapsing air bubble when the glass was made. If it is exterior as it appears to me..no need for a re-seal...by the appearance of that interiot silicone work, like lost hi volume manufactured tanks, it is way over done and the chip shouldn't be an issue.
