Cracked Glass top

it's a top... don't worry about it, unless it's very loose and comes apart.
 
I wonder if a piece of plexiglass cut to that size to replace your broken piece would not be a cheaper and more durable choice.

Ummm..... I have an 85 gallon glass tank, and all that's keeping it together is silicone. So, I think silicone does have significant holding strength, besides, it's just a top, it doesn't need integrity, it's just keeping the water from evaporating.
