Cracked remora collection cup

For about a week now i have been noticing that my skimmer wasent pulling anything from the water, i inspected further and there was a big crack in the collection cup that was letting it all drain right back into my tank. I am going to buy a new cup but what I want to know is can i fix it for now, like will a piece up dict tape work or would that hurt my tank? maybe water sealant? just let me know. THank you!

I'd personally try super glue. We use it to glue corals into place.

really? superglue is aquarium safe? a specific brand or is it all good?

Its all good. In fact, I often stock up on tubes of it at the $1 store. The gel will work best when gluing corals by the way.

I would expect super glue to be safe. It's often used in place of stitches in an emergency. Liquid Bandage is basically super glue, but with higher quality standards for medical use...

Yes superglue, that way you aren't going to deform anything with the cup and hopefully not defeat the collection process. Just make sure it is dry before sticking it back into the unit so it doesn't glue itself to anything else in the process. But if you work it right you should be able to get it to wick itself into the crack.

For glueing corals we use the thick stuff, but for this process I'd use the normal thin stuff like I said as you can try to get it to wick into the crack.. By wick i mean that if you just add a few drops along the crack, hopefully the glue will get pulled into the crack itself sealing it shut.

I would use the supper glue gel, however before doing that I would send an email to AquaC (www.proteinskimmer.com) and explain to them the problem. I have found them to be extremely helpful in the past.
