cracked tank and not many options...

thanks for all the advice. i'm going to try to arrange to get the 20 gallon today or tomorrow, as i had arranged a trade for it with a friend. if i can't, i'll look into the silicone, although i've never used the stuff and i don't know if i'd trust my first try on something like this. for now, i have all the fish in the 5 gallon and fingers crossed. being in an apartment i can't risk any flooding.

That is what life experience is all about. Do a little internet research on application, barrow a tube silicone from friend, and go for it. These learning experiences in life are priceless and make you more socially independent, and gives you the satisfaction of recycling something you can use for many things from full use to a terrarium to a QT IMHO. ;)

i wound up getting a 15 gallon off of a friend. what a relief!

i'm thinking i'll do just that: patch up the crack for practice and turn the 10 gallon into a cricket breeder for my pink toe. having the silicone will be handy for the future so i think it's a worthy investment. never know when another accident will happen, or i'll decide i want to try and build my own tank XD

If you do buy silicon try and buy a small tube (tooth paste size) not the huge gun type. After using it place replace the original cap tight and place it in a plastic baggy in the refrigerator or cool place which will make it last allot longer then if you keep it in the garage where heat and cold changes will dry it out and cure it prematurely.
