Craigslist 40 Gallon Journal

I suppose there is always the possibility of getting an overly aggressive Angel, they are cichlids after all. But for the most part,I don't think you would have a problem with some guppies.

On a side note. The only problem I have had with Angels is keeping them as pairs. I know the one I have is a female because she laid eggs. The other one I had with her also laid eggs. The 2 did not get along after that. I took one to the pet store, and now keep her as a single. I noticed your stocking plans, just wanted to give my experience with keeping pairs,FWIW.

Thanks for this info I asked in the angel forum and others seemed to think that they would do okay together...maybe I'd better not risk it

I'd love to keep some guppies though :)

So today I filled my tank up with more play sand. :) I washed it a lot, but the tanks still cloudy..guess I'll have to let it settle for a while. The sand is about 2 inches high in the front and 3 inches high in the back. Is this a good amount of sand? I have more I could put in if necessary.

I found out today that my tank is not a 40, but rather a 45! :) (Technically a 43) That's a happy surprise!

I'm still unsure about lighting options. I want to be able to grow low/medium light plants. Would three fixtures of these be able to handle a bulb that's about 25 watts (cfl) or more? http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754547#RatingsDetail

This weekend I'm heading out to my camper off the Mississippi (near Brainerd, MN) in search of either driftwood or rocks!

UPDATE!

I found some great plants in the Mississippi. Unfortunately, the molly that I had frm another tank thought they were great too :( I found some nice read oak braches too, but it turns out one of them was rotting. I'll have to go look next week!

Since there's a dollar sale on neons at my local petco I think I'll risk them getting eaten when I get an angel. I think I will get 10-15 of them.

Photo update! (Long overdue, I know)

So unfortunately, I missed the sale....I got dates mixed up in my head :(

But anyhow, today I took a ton of overgrown plants out of my 10 gallon. When I say overgrown, I mean it! Somehow, the plants managed to grow to be 2 feet tall in less than 1 foot of space!

I put them in my tank today which is currently housing 1 guppy. (The molly went back into my sisters tank after it ate my plants.)

Tomorrow, I' going up to the camper in Brainerd and will hopefully find more red oak branches!

Hopefully I will get new fish soon!

Anyway, I have a couple photos. Sorry for the low quality and the background is actually black, not gray.

if possable, dont go to petsmart or petco, try to go to richfield, world of fish, and sumthimg fishy are great aquarium shops. something fishy is better service, and equip., but smaller slection. world of fish is great for liviestock, but they are quite a bit more expensive, and it is hard to get service.

Dang that anacharis was in your 10g? So looong!

Looking good, I like the branches.

The only reason I was planning on petco was the dollar sale, but alas I missed it. I was actually planning on buying fish at a petstore in Northtown Mall in Blaine. Its small but its fish are nice quality and their tanks always look great.

I will look into the other stores as well. Thanks for the suggestions!

I know! Surprising isn't it? I knew it was overgrow, but it certainly didn't look that long! And thanks! Its a work in progress :)

also, forest lake pets has an EXTREME slection of fish, you have to walk in the front door, and go to the back room, but great slection, rivaled to that of World of fish!

I took a took at their website and wow! Their selection looks wonderful. I'm pretty sure I'm going shoping there. :) Thanks for the tip!
