Craigslist 40 Long

I removed the AC 110 from the tank. Installed the xP3 on the tank. I had to cut a new piece of egg-crate to keep fish from jumping out since the slot for the AC was bigger than I needed for the intake/return lines for the xP3.

Problems:

While pushing the suction cups on the intake against the glass, I pushed a bit too hard and the middle brace I had repaired broke again. I'm quite unhappy about this. Superglue sucks! I think I'm going to solvent weld it next time I attempt to repair it. (More on this in a minute)

Somehow the xP3 is getting air in the line on the return side. I purged all the air out and successfully spewed water everywhere when I put the top back on.

I'm going to replace the U on the end of the return because the one that's on it is a snap together one and I suspect it is the culprit. Fortunately, I have another that is solid that I can use. Too tired to do it right now since it's about 1 am here.

If that doesn't fix it, I have a bigger problem. The other possibility is the the shut-off lever is cracked and allowing air to seep in. No telling how much a replacement for that is going to set me back.

I need to replant some plants and lower the CO2 Reactor 500 level in the tank.

Here's my dilemna:

I know it's probably not necessary, but that broken brace is making me uncomfortable about that tank.

1) I could leave it as is and not worry about it. Notably annoying me to no end for certain.

2) I could set up the empty 75 I have, move everything out of the 40 into it, repair the 40, then put everything back. A lot more work, but brings peace of mind.

Have I mentioned the 18 bazillion other things I need to do in the fish room?

Since the above changes and lowering the CO2 Reactor 50. I'm waiting on plants to arrive from FTM. Hopefully, they will be here tomorrow. I really need to put a background on that tank. All of them actually.

you mentioned the glareing light from your shop lights. my tanks are open top with the fixture on legs, i was blinded every time i looked at the tank. so i took a piece of aluminum foil the length of the fixture and taped it to the front edge. hangs just to the bottom edge of the frame. might not be the classiest thing in town but now i can see the fish without that glare from the lights

So bushwhacker, how do you "open" the tank without the foil getting all folded & crinkled? I think I've only bought foil 3 times in 30 years of marriage, LOL, so I don't really know how to use it. (nice tank BTW, needs a background)
