CRAP VACATION NEWT

oh nvm yes i do have a filtert running it goes at around 100gph

we live in tx and the house is 76f.

i guess, all you can do is have a fan blow on the water, maybe raise the filter so it agitates the water, and if its still to hot, place the tank in a shallow (so it doesnt cover the tank) piece of styrofoam with frozen water bottles next to the tank, in the styrofoam

but moniter the temp so it doesnt get too cold, too fast

ok. my filter is the filter that came with the tank kit so the water falls about 5 inches before hitting the water and its very noisy and makes you have to pee,lol so that part is already taken care of. now about the styrofoam not sure what to do on that one the tank dimensions are 10" by 20".

like this. tank sits in styrofoam cooler, cut down to size. i think they make them that big. lid has tank sized hole and fits over cooler base. the ice packs they sell for lunchboxes and stuff are flatter, so it wouldent need to be too tall

ok but if it gets to cold?

wait you mean days right?:omg:
Dang it. :wall: Of course I meant days, 8 weeks without food would turn a healthy newt into something that resembles a dried-out vanilla bean with legs.

About the cooling problem, do you have a flourescent (The newfangled white twisty ones) or an incadescent (The kind that burns out in a month) light fixture? Incandescent lights can heat up an enclosed aquarium very fast and very hot.

Newts are accustomed to cold temperatures, the ice idea will not get too cold for it.

youll have to moniter it carefully until you find just how many bottles to put in. fyi, i just made up that idea in my head, idk if anyones used anything like it.

if you could attach an airline hose to a strong powerhead, and run it through a freezer, esentially it will be a chiller. but thats a little more complicated
