CRAP! what do i do??!??!?!

Well everything went well...the freakin power NEVER went off?!? it was supposed to be some maintenance the power company was conducting...oh well...

Thanks for the tip...I'm looking into getting some good plants for my tank...

Remember, plants need light to work, no lights no plant filter.

For future reference -- with power out, you need to tend to temperature, oxygen, and filtration.

Temp: wrap tank to maintain heat or remove hood and net top to cool down.

Oxygen: swish a net through the water, scoop water and pour, or use battery powered air pumps (airstones removed, small sponge or box filter optional)

Filtration: Open canisters and put media in shallow water, keep HOB media wet, pour tank water over each occasionally. Rinse well in tank water before restarting filter.

Add Prime or similar to the tank to handle ammonia buildup, do not feed fish.

with all due respect anonapersona, SDRANGER619 was talking about a ten hour period. His plants will live and produce oxygen for much longer then that without light. Also, wrapping a tank is location specific. I had much the opposite problem without having power for 48 hours. Living in Florida increased my tank temp by 8 degrees in that time period. The rest of your post I agree with completely. :)

I hope you're not offended at that was not my intent. Being new here, I don't want to step on anyone's toes. ;)
