Crayfish eating all my plants!!!

Took the Crayfish to LFS today and got some credit for him. He was absolutely wrecking my plants and I couldn't wait another day... I'm gunna see what kind of inverts they can special order for me... I want shrimp instead of crayfish, maybe Amano shrimp...

The larger filter feeder shrimp would really be nice, you can get Flower Shrimp pretty easy and without paying too much money. They really would be better than Amanos now that I think of it.

1. What are feeder shrimp exactly? 2. I've never heard of flower shrimp, but I will look them up. 3. What is wrong with Amano shrimp?

Filter feeder shrimp have little fan-like appendages that they filter food out of the water with, they're typically larger than other shrimp. The only type I've kept is Flower Shrimp which got to be about 4", a lot bigger than any Amano that could be eaten.

I just saw the Flower Shrimp, they are nice! They seem like a good fit for my tank too. The only threat to inverts that I have is one curious angelfish. I wish I could keep RCS so that I could have them breed! lol

I'll ask my LFS if they can get Flower Shrimp. Do you know of dealer on here that sells them?

I'm not sure on any dealer, but Flower Shrimp were a great addition when I had them. The Angelfish would probably eat the RCS, but it wouldn't be too hard or expensive to set up a little tank for the RCS to have a tank for themselves.

Yeah I've been thinking of getting a tiny tank for some RCS, tiny fish, and a couple plants... For now I'll look into some bigger shrimp. Do you know of any other other larger shrimp like the Flower Shrimp, but not so big like the Viper Shrimp?

You could give Bamboo(flower) shrimp a try. I had two of them in my 55 with an Angel and two large Gourami and they were prefectly fine. Just make sure its a well established tank that has good waterflow and a spot where he can sit in the flow of the water and filter for food. They are extremely timid and suceptible to disease after they molt so good hiding places is a must.

Look into the different macro shrimp. Bamboo aka flower, wood, rock shrimp are also good. I have one right now in my 55 planted tank. I also like ghost shrimp. I alway keep a couple dozen in my tanks. And they are cheap to replace every once in a while or if your angle eats some of the smaller ones.
