Crayfish eating my java fern?

Something has been munching on my java fern plants in my 20 gallon.

I know it isn't my blue tilapia or Asian sun cat.

So the two culprits have to be: my common pleco or my crayfish.

I removed the crayfish to another tank
 
Yes, I'd bet the crayfish myself, though Java fern isn't exactly a caesar salad for anything. Your lil crawdad must be hawngry.

Though, the tilapia would be suspect #2, certain types of tilapia are introduced into areas for weed control (this is always a bad idea, they eat just as many native fish as weeds, at least they taste good to local fisherman)

Some crayfish have been known to consume Java fern, in the words of one aquarist, "like candy".
 
He's gone (the crayfish).

My tilapia eats all the fish food and nothing else.
