I have a crayfish that I thought was a male but all of a sudden his cave and his back, or her, is covered in what I thought were eggs. But I looked up crayfish eggs and it looks like they only carry them under their tails. So what are all those egg like things?

It's pretty gross...

Ew! But I've had it for a long time. It's been through parasite treatments with my fish.

have you added ANYTHING new recently? plants, fish, rocks, gravel? filter from another tank? water from another tank?

If you want to sex your crayfish, it's easy. Males have their sexy parts on the 5th set of legs where females usually have them between the 3rd and 4th set. Do you know what species your crayfish is?

I've done my best to sex him and I thought he was a male. I have no idea what species he is.

I had him in a different aquarium, then I put him in with my betta and wild guppies in their aquarium. All of those guys I've had for a long time w/o any problems.

The only thing new in there was a still packaged tank divider and a brand new filter.

I put some salt in there last night. I'm going to wash him/her and the cave off (eeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww) and while I'm at it, should I take a picture what ever it is ided?

A picture would be helpful. Some crayfish have a worm like creature that lives on it but doesn't cause any harm, its just kind of gross. Do they move at all?

I haven't taken him out to rinse and bleach his cave yet but would putting some copper sulphate in the aquarium perhaps help? Would it hurt him and my two cherry shrimp?

They're not worms. They're kind of like polyps but not the tentacle kinds, they sway in the water and he looks fuzzy.

It's soooo gross and it freaks me out!
