ok, so my apple snail crawled out of my tank about 2 months ago and i couldn't find him. today i was cleaning off a shelf and i found him behind the books, thinking for sure he was probably dead...but when i picked him up he seemed oddly heavy. i placed him back in the tank, and somehow he had survived. wow... he is crawling around and just gind now, man..2 months out of water, simply amazing...

Does it have an operculum (I think that's it... one of those "trap door" thingies at the shell opening)? That's amazing...
I'm not quite sure what kind of apple snail it is, how could I find out. Yes, he does have a trap door to keep himself shut in... My snail, is huge though, I wonder if that made any difference. He (or she) is probably 2.75 to 3 inches. I am just so glad he is fine, I loved him...so cool to watch.
