Creamsicle molly x-ed with a black?

I have a creamsicle female molly. If she bred with my black male, what are the likely colors of the offspring?

I also have an orange/red albino male sailfin molly. If he bred with my platinum or black female molly, what are the colors of the offspring of that pairing?

Hmmm, this requires some Mendelian genetics, let's bring out those peas! j/k

Best way to do this is to just breed them, but if you wanted, you could look up which traits are recessive and dominant. Like the albino phenotype, I think would be recessive so you would probably not see it on a fish if its other parent doesn't carry that allele in its genotype. As for the creamsicle and black pairing, my guess is that you'll get some creamsicle, some black and some fish that show both colours, either separate black and orange (incomplete dominance), or a mix of dark orange (codominance). You might get unexpected results too! Sorry if this is useless theory, I've never bred mollies but I thought you might find it interesting

I love genetics and I love to see what can happen between two different colored creatures whether they be horses or fish. I love horses but fish are easier to breed and maintain and, most the time, cheaper, too. As soon as both my creamsicle ladies give birth (I'm pretty sure they're both pregnant and they were in a tank with silvers [dark grey colored ones], one calico, two albino males [one of which I brought home], and a few blacks and probably some other colors I didn't see) I'm putting them in a tank by themselves and hope they don't get pregnant again from any sperm they may be carrying, then breed them to my black male.

Thanks for your theory; I do indeed find it interesting. I wish there was more detailed information about molly genetics like there is for betta genetics...*sigh*

Awww, unfortunately, I learned from another thread here that livebearers carry the males' sperm for months after just one encounter!

Aye, I know. That's why after she gives birth, I'm isolating her from any male mollies or guppies (they can cross breed sometimes).
