Tonight while rinsing the filter on my bioweel I found this inhabitant. Is it a shrimp or some other tag along that got in my tank when I added live plants a few months ago... Just curious! I left it on the filter because I had no idea what else to do.

i dunno, looks sorta like a shrimp, but i would take it out before u add fish, could carry parasited, call your local pet stores and try and get an ID on what it is, research it, see if its harmful

The tanks been set up for years with different fish here and there. The current occupants are 2 orandas and a pl*co.

it crawls though. like a shrimp or crayfish

As do all benthic aquatic insect larvae.

Does your specimen resembel this? If so, it's an immature diving beetle of some sort.

Exactly how large are your fish?

Eeeeeeeeewwwww.... doesn't look good. Definately looks like an insect larva to me.
