HN and I booked our cruise today. We're boarding the ship in Miami on April 5 and getting married in Key West on April 6. :D Day 3 is a day at sea, day 4 is at Grand Cayman, day 5 is at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and day 6 is another day at sea, and then back to Miami. We're totally excited about it and we were just wondering if you all had any pearls of wisdom to share with us, or just wanted to share your experiences.

We're getting the transfer from the airport to the ship, and the late dinners, both at the suggestion of our travel agent. We're climbing Dunns River Falls in Jamaica and also doing a dolphin swim (YAY) while we're there. Any advice or suggestions you guys have would be appreciated... neither of us have ever been on a cruise before.

Also, I'd welcome any info on non-drowsy motion sickness meds... I plan to see a doctor for a prescription but it's been quite a long time since I've had the prescription stuff and I'm sure a lot has changed. ;) LOL.

Yay...

Make sure any recommended meds are alcohol friendly. ;)

Just have fun.

The late dinners is a good idea but not always necessary as you can always hit the buffet or some other place to eat on board. When my wife and I went on our cruise we were lucky and were seated with a great couple who was our age so dinners weren't awkward. Other than that just go with the flow and make sure you get in on some of the on board activities. I find the best vacations tend to happen when you don't over think them.

I wish I would have done Dunns River Falls when I was in Jamaica it looks like a great time. I did do the dolphin experience and it was very cool. Sorry I can't help with the motion sickness because it wasn't an issue for us. The first night you will notice you are moving when you are trying to sleep but after your body gets used to it you won't feel it any more.

Hah. I went on the same route plus Cozumel a few years ago. Definitely check out cheeseburger reef at Grand Cayman, and make sure to waterproof your cam climbing Dunns River Falls. Also, beware of grifters, they are EVERYWHERE!!!!

As far as non drowsy motion sickness meds, try ginger candy or those magnetic pressure point doohickeys.

Motion sickness: OTC meclizine. Get the 12.5mg tabs & take two instead of buying 25mg & taking one. Much cheaper... At least, where I work they are.
Two family friends are leaving on a 107-day cruise later this month!

Me too! Rented a water ski in ocho rios, it was super fun. The black coral snorkeling was amazing. Caymans are outstanding too. I think it was there that I did stingray city. It was mind boggling. Dunns River Falls was my highlight of the trip, definitely do that!

According to the news, you need to make sure you don't fall over board! That seems to be the latest fad! :lipssealedsmilie:

I am sure it will be picture perfect - and I wish you all the best....

I've never been seasick, most cruise ships are pretty stable, the over the counter stuff works well, I bet you dont heed the meds though

We took a cruise for our honeymoon, too! It was a blast. Make sure that you have a very empty credit card to put on file, especially if you plan to drink. The alcohol bills add up very quickly. Make sure you spend at least one night really exploring the boat. We fell upon an awesome, tucked away piano bar that was a blast! Have fun!!!
