So I don't have crushed coral as a substrate I have 120 lbs of aragonite sugar sand, but I have read that you can use it to help maintain calcium levels in a tank. I guess I should also state that I am a naturalist to a certain extent and don't believe the use in chemicals unless I absolutely have to.. So if I were to use a small bag of CC to help boost/maintain calcium levels, where should I put it, and how much should I use?

Aragonite has the same effect:)

And as for not believing in using chemicals... I'm the same way... but there's absolutely nothing wrong with dosing calcium, or other minerals (see that's why :p:). You'll probably need to do it any way, unless your doing mostly softes, or you'll be doing more water changes (and using more salt) to keep calcium up.

Adding calcium, and other minerals, is nothing like adding, for exmple, a liquid wich promises to lower your nitrate and eliminate water changes... as far as being a naturalist goes... well theres' nothing natural about fish tank...

Thats why I said to a "certain extent" :grinyes: But I don't like using chemicals.. Heck I personally don't even use aspirin.
