Crust in the lid of my tank

I scrub my glass tops once a month as part of my normal tank maintenance, to keep ahead of the white junk! If it's already built up, I take the item that it's built up on, remove it from the tank and let it dry out completely... maybe out on the patio or something in a sunny spot (Seems to me that drying it out first helps to loosen the crud) Then I soak it in a big bucket of hot water and white vinegar, preferably overnight. The next morning, the crud just wipes off or, at the most, with a little scrubbing with a tank scrubbie pad. Then rinse it really well to get the vinegar off. That's what I do, anyway!
