When I first got my Cryptocoryne spiralis a year and a half ago, it grew like a weed to the top of the tank. More and more lately (maybe 6 months) it is melting and dying back. It has sent up several runners, but the original plants seem to be failing, and the runners are not flourishing.
Set-up is low-light no ferts: 20 gallon tall, 36 watt light, moderately planted and stocked. The Taiwan moss and java ferns in the tank are flourishing. I've tried adding potassium for several weeks, it just make the ferns grow faster. I've also tried a few drops of Flourish daily for several weeks with no response from the crypt. Any ideas? Root tabs maybe? I should probably scrape the hard water deposits off the tank glass top as I'm sure it's not getting as much light as it could.
