Cryptoheros panamensis

Yeah I'm hoping this auction today will have something I'm looking for. I'll deff be looking for both of these species there!

Really disappointed about this auction today.. There Cichlid stock was complete crap. I had the largest and raisest Cichlid there.. My parrots starting bid was $5.00 I jumped out of my seat and refused to sell him... I took him down to the LFS Fantastic Fins and sold my Parrot for $30.00 I now know that freaking swordtail and koi angel fish sell for more than one of the few hardest to find Cichlids. I saw a trio of swordtails selling for 28.00!!!! That's crazy! I almost came home with some discus, they had really nice stock for 20$ a piece. Then I saw a breeding pair of Blue Eyed Cichlids with a huge chunky male. I got up to 35$ and made the choice it wasn't worth it. Got a beat up 15gallon for 5$ though. My buddy got a really pleco I think it was a L209? I'm not sure I don't know much on pleco. It's brown and has yellow stripes hahaha he also got a set of 5 blue texas cichlids that he plans on growing out and breeding. I also picked up a very very nice female jack Dempsey for my EBJD for the killer price of FREE! Didn't see any nanos I'm going to look around locally and see if I can have them ordered. With this new 15 gallon I'm thinking of breeding nanos, and maybe swordtail just because they were making serious money at the auction! Just a update on my BGJD pair they spawned again! Very happy with there success lately

Sorry the auction was a bust. Here it's hard to find anything but cichlids, though they're mostly africans. I can't believe swordtails were going for that much. Congrats on the female JD, and the spawn!

Thanks bud! Yea really disappointed about the auction, but what can ya do. And yeah I was surprised that swordtail were selling that high to. Makes me really think of breeding them.

Same hear i got the Mixteco's 7 of them for 3 dollars but some Moscow Guppies went for 25 bucks LOL the live bearers go for crazy money here local as well but i can not keep these fish i feel you get a more personal experience with cichlids..

Live bearers in general tend to sell for way more then cichlids if there bred from the right lines. I just couldn't bring myself to raising and breeding guppies though. Just not my thing.

Hmm, maybe I should try to pick up the black moscows and Xenoteca variata that will be at the next auction, especially if I end up moving back to the midwest. If nothing else, they can make food for my jag.

I personally hate freaking guppy, platy, and molly. Swordtail on the other hand I kinda like, nothing I'd dedicate a whole tank to. I would just keep nanos, or JD fry with the Swordtails and use them as a dither fish/ money help, never hurts to have a small little income for food. I wouldn't be taking any extra special care of them, I mean there so boring. You can go and get a bag of feeder fish throw them in the tank and get the same if not better entertainment! HAHAHA

I don't care for swordtail's or mollies (with exception to the green sailfin) but I do like some platy's. Guppies sometimes look nice but I ain't paying no $40 for a pair. I prefer endler's over guppies. I own both platy's and endler's.
