Your range is fine. They do fine between 6.2 - 7.2. I wouldn't go any lower than 6.2 though, as they lose some of their coloration fr high acidic water.

I think survival at 7.4 is not a problem, I've heard of many hobbyist who have kept them with success at 7.4. If you are setting up a CRS tank, you may want to consider using ADA Aquasoil or a simpler method would be to make sure you have indian almond leaves in hand, and that would lower your ph slightly.
