well... my tank has been loaded w/ BBA for a while and I can not take the stuff out because its all gravel and everything as well. I just purchased some floating plants and such to absorb nutrients because apparently they do that quite well, however its not going to all of a sudden take over and kill the BBA. Also, I dont have live plants so I can not use flourish method with the exception of the new floaters I got. Also since Im going to be taking the fish out anyway for this time Im going to do like a 90% water change to get rid of what ever bad stuff was in there at the time and than when the copper is done Im goingg to do like a 50% water change and than put carbon in my filter and let that run for a few dadys and than before I put the fish in Im going to run the diatom filter. This way I will be eliminating the algae and hopefully whatever imbalance was causing the bba to occur. So essentially I will be starting all over with out killing my bioload. the BBA wasnt there for ever a year and than I got a little sluggish on water changes for about a month and it got there, Im thinking because I had a nitrate or nitrite spike or something of the nature since the tank includes only predators they poo a lot and kill things for fun sometimes and just allow them to sit on the bottom until I find them and net it out. Its going to be like a week and a half long process to get this all accomplished but I feel that it will be well worth it because I can not stand the BBA. and all the other hair algae that I get .
