cucumber or zuccini?

I use zucchini. My plecos love it and other herbivores(like mollies) like it too. I either nuke it or thaw frozen zucchini and that helps it sink.

Just keep trying with the cucumber, mine were picky at first, now they eat pretty much any vegetable I drop in the tank, cucumber, zucchini, lettuce, spinach etc

My two BNPs will tear up some zucchini! I drop in a couple slices when the tank is dark. Sometimes they will hit it before it even hits bottom.

zuchinni has more nutrition for the plecos. They like sliced mushrooms too. But they really won't touch any other veggie or fruit that I've tried. But mine are fed very well.

Zuccini are a squash and may be marked that way in the grocery. Normally mine carries green squash (zuccini) and yellow squash. My bristlenose eat either just fine. I just grow a few zuccini and squash plants in buckets in the summer then freeze gallon bags full of slices to feed all winter. Different plecos like different kinds. My bristlenose won't touch cucs but my L204's love it and will barely touch zuccini. My L204's prefer the oriental cucumbers over the american version as well...

Sorry I haven't updated, I got them zuke and its nothing but the rim by the time I get up in thr mornings! Thanks everyone for the help. I have also recently read that plecos enjoy wood? Any info to bake it up?

Some species (Panaques) actually do eat wood, most others simply skim off whatever biofilm is growing on it. None of them need the wood cooked or softened, it decays on its own.

Have ya tried shelled peas ? My plecos (and most of my other fish) love peas. Put some frozen ones in a cup of water, microwave it for a minute or so, then shell the peas and drop them in the tank. Sometimes I mush some of them up to make it easier for the small fish to eat. Never seen any leftovers !! Good luck.
