About three days ago or so, I posted a request to help me ID my catfish, Felix (see link below). I know there have been several of you experts (I consider you experts as I am only an amateur that enjoys my single aquarium) that have viewed the post/pictures........has anyone found anything? Is anyone looking? I looked for other aquaria forums to post this, but have not found any (yet) that allow pictures to be attached.

If someone is working on finding out what kind of catfish Felix might be, let me know. Also if you need more info about him (her?). If there are other aquaria forums that allow pictures for identification that I might use, let me know that also.

Thanks alot,
Marcia

I think he's a Pangasius of some kind.

I agree with Faramir that he's some sort of Pangasius (one common shark of this group is the iridescent shark). I have been looking high and low to come up with an exact for you but it's proving to be a little more difficult than I thought.....but, just so you are aware, that someone is looking ;)

Let me get me Baensch - got to be in books 1 or 2...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I knew I had come to the right place! LOL

Faramir......thanks for the "guestimate" of a Pangasius. I will do some researching in the meantime on that group (species?). I take it that "Baensch" is a Bible of sorts for fish/catfish?

Kveeti........Yes, indeedy, I have checked out Planet Catfish. Man! are there alot of these guys or what!?! If you guys don't come up with a definite on Felix, I will post at the forum there. (P.S. I think he is cute, too! Felix is usually quite good natured, although at times he has to come out of his log - other than feeding times - and try to assert his authority! The other fish don't seem real concerned about him. All he really does is bump them.)

Dangerdoll......Thanks for letting me know that you are looking. I agree that he is a tough one to pin down. At least I knew he was for me. I found a couple that were close, but nothing that made me say "Ah Ha! By George I've got it!!"

Again, thanks to all of you who are taking your time to assist me.

I've replied on the original thread - Mystus vittatus

hi again Marcia......was just going to put you in the direction of Mystus vittatus. Just so ya know, their common name is the Striped River Catfish. Good luck with your searching ;)

I will post this note to your original note as well.....

Y'all did it!!! Good for you! LOL

(also posted in my original thread)

Thanks so very much. It looks like the ID of Mystus vittatus is right on for ole' Felix. The picture in the other thread from Baensch looks just like him!

You guys are great!!

Take care,
