Due to popular demand, I made a filter from a vase, fountain pump, sponge and bag of carbon. Seems to work. Zero ammonia.

I had the tank custom made in chinatown years ago for my office. You can get stuff like that for cheaper now on glasscages.com

I am staring at that filter and I can not for the life of me figure out how you would make that work.. 2 tubes... 1 pump, so both tubes are connected to the pump? One input, one output? If so, isn't that just pulling the water out of the tank and right back in? I am guessing the intake hose isn't connected to the pump and your using the pump to create a syphon maybe? Obviously I am missing something if you say it is working. Awesome looking little tank you have there! Make a perfect coral frag tank.

Its about 5 or six gallons. The smaller caliber tube is connected to the pump for outflow. The larger one, as you guessed is for inflow by passive siphon action. The sponge is in between. I put a small bag of carbon that I had left over from another project in for good measure on the "clean" side of the sponge.
