Custom Hood

I mist whenever I notice the humidity drop, basically 3-5 times a day sometimes. For the first bit you'll have to mist more to get the humidity up to begin with, but after awhile it can be just 2 times a day (mine is more now due to new bark). I have no idea about a black light. I'd just look into a red or maybe blue bulb (I believe blue doesn't bother them as well). You might want to check with others and see what they do. I just don't bother lighting mine at night as it is next to my bed.

I keep my humidity around 60-70 percent, so if you are around just check what it says. Mines are 75F and 68% humidity right now, and I just gave him a little mist.

Curious, did you ever figure something out? I'd love to see the entire setup once you get it done.

I've been busy recently here with other things. However I have been trying to think of a few ideas as per night lighting. The idea that keeps jumping out in my mind is: red LEDs or an LED bulb. I'm not sure how bright that would be though, so I'm still thinking; nothing is set in stone just yet.

For the hood, I am going to cut a new piece of plexi tonight and use graph paper to drill my holes evenly. Then I will record the temps and humidity to ensure that it will be a suitable environment for these guys.

My other plants came in, and I have them planted. I just have to patch a few spots on the background and the interior should be complete. All that is left to do after that is to figure out the lighting, and testing and troubleshooting the hood.

If you want to be able to view at night, I'd just go with buying those. They are for reptiles, and will probably look better than the fish ones, they looked kinda retarded (the circle things looked silly when I saw them at the store). I haven't seen these personally, but they don't look bad. If I had a need to view at night, I think I'd go with them. I might add something like that to my leopard geckos later as I have no lights over the tank and nothing really near it, so I rely on daylight or the bits of room light.

The only thing I have come across with cresties is be very careful with handling. Mine will grab with his tail, and sometimes I don't notice. They look so much better with the tail, so just watch where it is so you don't cause him to drop it :).

I'm not sure what else to share about them. I feel mine baby food daily, crickets 1-2 times a week (will probably be more now that I'm feeding a baby bearded dragon too). Have fun!

Yeah, I noticed that my guy with the tail will try to hold on with his tail as well. I feed them CGD and baby food daily as well, I just switch every day or so; and crickets once a week as well.

I have found a new home for my tailless one, so I will be looking for a new female friend for my male now. I heard that there should be some for sale at a local reptile show here on the 29th. How much would you guess that a breeding sized female would cost? I've seen them online for $300~
