Cycle - Reduces Fish Loss

Hi i got this little bottle with my aquarium called "Cycle" and says it reduces fish loss.

When i first filled it up a week ago i added 2 capfuls because it said to if setting up a new aquarium.

It also says add 1 capful (5ml) each week for weekly maintenance. Should i? Please read below though....

Just i am doing a fishless cycle by adding ammonia (started cycling on monday), and i dont want this "cycle" treatment to mess up my cycle. Anyone know if it will? Or if it wont affect it at all.

I do not believe "Cycle" has any real benefit in starting up your aquarium.

Most people here will recommend Prime as your water conditioner for weekly use.

What are your current water parameters..ammomia, nitrites and nitrates?

nitrite: ~0.50 (slightly darker)
nitrate: ~2

I've been using Cycle, but for it to become effective you have to add 2-4 caps per day on your start up. If you do that it will work fine, but your Bank Manager will be very unhappy!

I've been reading up a lot on this forum and am about to go and buy some Prime, as I can afford that!

So, IME Cycle works but you have to use so much to perform a Cycle that it becomes very expensive. Switch to Prime when you've finished your Bottle

Oh, and from your Graph, your about to hit Nitrite spike, which is good. After it peaks and you get to 0 Ntirite, thats a good indication your tank has Cycled. Would recommend re-sending this graph online when Nitrite gets near zero and get opinions of the experts on this site (of which I am not)

Im not using cycle, im using household pure ammonia. I only added 2 capfuls of cycle when i first got my tank last saturday, but on monday i read about fishless cycling with pure ammonia so i got some and added to the tank to raise levels to 6ppm.

Cool, I would say keep your Ammonia about 5ppm, when it drops add more, until you get to the stage where you add Ammonia and it dissappears along with Nitrite. You could use Cycle until you run out, but after that 'd switch to Prime which is what I'm doing following advice on this site.

When the levels drop to about 1 im going to raise them back upto 3 or 4 ppm, and keep doing so until nitrites and ammona go to 0.
