Hey guys... quick question. Should you do anything different when cycling a tank that has sand in it versus a tank with gravel? I've had my tank running for about 4 days and those stinkin' danios are making a mess of my fine aquarium... lol. Anyways, I'm going to buy one of those batter-powered vacuums tonight (for picking up left over flakes on the sand) and hopefully clean it all up. But yeah. Anything I should keep in mind when cycling? I'll probably do my first cycle in about a week, as not to screw up the new bacteria/whatever.

no..should treat it exactly the same. When you vaccuum...just kind of stir the water up an inch above the sand and suck out the water.

**********UPDATE**********

Oh man... my tank is rocking, now! Here's my trick... add more fish! lol. I added three Cory's and three mystery snails, and now the bottom is kept totally clean by these guys. The corys have quickly learned to avoid the bichir when he swims by, but otherwise, everything is totally cool in the tank! Also, in two months, the bichir has grown from about 2.5" to almost 5-6"!!! He's awesome, and he's sooooo active! He'll swim back and forth at the top of the tank, just waiting for me to drop him some Hikari lovin'.... lol. Now... to find a cheap 70 gallon tank... lol
