Hello, My tank is continuing to cycle, its on its 5th day. Stocked in the tank now are 2 goldfish and a green terror. Ive treated the tank with a beneficial bacteria and ive added water from my established tank. The ammonia is at 0ppm, and fish seem healthy.

I was wondering if i should do water changes during the cycle period, right now my water is cloudy. I have gph turnover... 75 gallon tank with a aqua clear 110. What do you think?

a green terror and two goldfish is a green terror not tropical :S

Yeah, jnr is right. goldfish are coldwater fish (room temp) and terrors are tropical, and would do best in water closer to 80*. They don't make the best tankmates.

i would wait till the cycle is complete b4 do any water changes...

Before giving advice please read the article about cycling. When someone is doing a fishy cycle water changes must be done daily if not more, depending on test readings.

The green terror will eventually get big enough to kill/eat the gold fish. Really not a good combination, hope it's only temporary.

actually the gold fish are food. i was feeding them to my piranhas but decided to keep them in my new tank just to see how they would do.

RE: Newbie help threads.

Hey Bob,

Many thanks for the two threads.
They are very informative.
I'm going through the ignorant stage (5 weeks) fishy cycle.
I too have had concerns about how long and H2o changes.
I'm doing 50% H2o changes every other day trying to keep the nitrites down. It's working, but man its a lot of work lugging H2o.
I'm using the old water for my orchids, and they love it!
So there are benefits.
Again, Thanks!!!

My tanks are all in spots where I can drain the water changes straight to flower beds. And the wife always takes some for the house plants.

GreenTerrO...how is it going?
