Cycling, AquariumPharm Nitrite test kit

learning to be the best
well i am patiently waiting for my actual first cycle to get done and i have came across a hiccup. my nitrite test kit from Aquarium Pharmacuticles is showing me a light brown color. prior to this when i first tested my water the ammonia was 0 which is light green, the nitrite was light blue showing 0 and the ammonia was yellow showing 0. My levels are now 0 ammonia light brown nitrite and nitrate don't know not test latley, this tests are 1 month into the cycle, i have contacted AP but no answer yet, please help

p.s. i have bought two seperate different testers with different lot numbers and the same thing happens.

are you missing the chart that tells you what color means what ppm? if I remember right the nitrite test is blue when it = 0 ppm, but I may be forgetting ;)

take a look in the products and DIY board for a sticky that should say something about the test cards for all kinds of test kits. there will be scans of thm in there if you're miussing yours. if nothing else I get out of work in about 3.5 hours and I could check my card and tell you then ;)

okay maybe i am not clear enough, i do have a card.

THE COLOR OF MY NITRITE TEST KIT IS LIGHT BROWN

LIGHT BROWN IS NOT ON THE CHART.

ps i am not yelling just stressing what i have been trying to say.

I think i am at the conclusion that my nitrites are greater than 5 ppm,

yes i have bought a new test kit with different lot numbers and the same thing happens.

HAS ANYONE EVERY SEEN THIS BEFORE??

my well water does not have any nitrites in it just checked that out. did a three to four gallon water change on my 29 gallon tank hear or the results

well never mind aquarium pharmacuticle called and said that my nitrite a realy realy high and that i should perform numerous water changes.

glad they got back with you. I was going to suggest the same thing once i read the new info (I was under the impression you lost the chart :duh: ) but then I got to the bottom and they'd called you back, so there you go :)

good luck clearing it up!
