Cycling my 115 gallon

Just keep doing water changes and add the neccessary salt until the nitrites goes down to zero, then you will be fine. But it is looking good now, if you can get nitirtes down to 0.5 that would be even better for the time being.

i'm not sure if my nitrite is rising still, but it's higher than i would like it to be
it seems to be a bit higher than 0.8 when i tested it today

i did 2 30% water changes.

I test ammonia and it came out to zero.

I added salt to the water i changed into the tank.

What else should I be doing? When will the nitrite convert to nitrate?

It will take about 3 weeks for the whole cycle to complete, be patient, it takes time and effort to do a fishy cycle. How long has it been now? Just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine.

You should only have a little way to go, but remember the last week is the hardest and is also were people tend to lose their fish most, this due to a variety of reasons but a big reason is people get frustrated with their nitrites not going down. One day your nitrites will up and the next your tank will be cycled, just hang in there a little longer. ;)

with every passing day my nitrite levels stays at approx 1.6. I called a few LFS to ask for their opinions and most of them told me to try putting in cycle. I bought a bottle yesterday for 10 bucks and used it all up yesterday. I'm not sure if it did anything, but apparently it doesn't do anything overnight.

How much longer will this last!!! I get more and more worried about the nitrite level everyday argh

I didn't do water changes today. Since i just dumped that bottle of cycle into my tank. I was recommended to do fewer changes, in fear of slowing down the cycling proccess. I added a huge rock from another tank, hopefully it had bacteria on it =b.

I started lots of tanks in the past, but none this big and i never had this problem. I've been doing this fish stuff for over 8 years and this tank has made me feel like a newbie haha.

It took me almost three months to properly cycle my 1850g, I don't know why but it did take that long for it to cycle. I have cycled many big tanks before, over 400g tanks. Like I said before keep doing your water changes and just wait that is all you can do. I have heard of a product called bio-spira, no experience with it but if you could get hold of it, that could help.
