Cycling problems driving me INSANE

Yes only for a short time,,it looks like the cycle stalled for some reason,,then we had a big rite spike had to do multible wc's a day, then the rates started to show and readings went to normal, all this happened in a week...fishy cycling is tricky but is done all the time,, it just takes more work and time...:) Yes as H3D stated {I would still try to get some Bio-Spira. Buy it from the internet if necessary} Other wise wait it out...

yeah its been weird for me too. about 2 weeks or so ago (4 weeks into my fish cyclye, I got the ammonia down to zero. Now the last two weeks ive had nitrite and even worse nitrate problems despite frequent water changes, I dont know whats goin on...

OK, I'll call around and see if I can get some Bio-Spira. I just hate to add an expensive additive to the tank and risk confounding my cycling issues further, especially when I can't understand how adding bacteria is going to change anything when there is seemingly no ammonia nor nitrite present for them to feed off of (unless there is ammonia and nitrite in the Bio-Spira). But I am fed up after 40 days of doing everything by the book and now seemingly back to square one. (Did I mention this tank was seeded with muck from an existing tank's filter?)

HD3 or Weeser (or anyone else?), have either of you actually used Bio-Spira and had success with it? Can I dump it in a tank with existing fish?

Thanks to all for your help with this most annoying situation.

No i hav'nt, i just waited it out......:dance2:

OK, I found some Bio-Spira. I bought two packets that each treat 30 gallons for a total of $23 (whew). I dumped them both on the filter cartridges and bio-wheels. It can't hurt and what do I have to lose (besides $23)? Fingers crossed...

How will I know when it's working? When nitrites and nitrates rise?
