Cycling using pure ammonia HELP

Ok I'm worried now lol Yesterday my ammonia level was at 2ppm so i added a little more to bump it back up to 4ppm, then today i tested it and it seems like its way above 5ppm like almost at 8ppm...im guessing thats not good

I would do a 50% water change and bring it back down to 4 ppm.

With a good innoculation it can be as quick as 10 days. However, it's easy to kill all the bacteria before you introduce them; the media and/or gravel mustn't be allowed to become dry or anoxic; you need to keep them damp, in an open container, and move fast.

Right man, did that, kept it in a open ziplock bag and it was wet. Must have died somehow, oh well, tried!!

I was told the bacteria were capable of surviving for hours even when dry.

Hey is this normal when cycling...my ammonia isnt really dropping but my nitrites are starting to rise?

I got my ammonia up to 4ppm a couple of days ago, then by accident, bumped it up to 8ppm, so yesterday i did a 50% percent water change and got it back down to 4ppm. Today I tested and its still at around 4ppm but now my Nitrites have gone up to 0.50ppm...is that normal cause I thought the ammonia was suppose to start dropping as the nitrites started rising?
