OK, I have read some conflicting thoughts.

I have CURED Fiji LR (only out of water for 3 hours for transport). I am currently cycling with 3 smaller sized was-frozen shrimp. They have been in the tank for less than 24 hours.

Will the ammonia spike kill the LR? Or am I ok?

Just a wee bit cornfused.

Thanks!

Others will know better than I, but my understanding is that's okay but you should keep the shrimp away from the live rock, otherwise the rock may absorb some of the ammonia and suddenly release it at a later time resulting in a spike, but I don't think that will hurt the critters living in the rock... but, I'm a noob too, so hopefully someone has some more definitive feedback.

I'd keep an eye on it, an ammo spike could kill some of whats in the rock and some will come out fine. You'll get better diversity if you try to keep your ammo around .25 or so during the cycle as it wont get too toxic. I've also read in a few places that if your ammo is too high it hinders the same bacteria growth that we're trying to promote as it's just too toxic, not sure how accurate this is but in any case I've had what seem to be faster cycles in all my tanks by keeping it somewhere between .25 and .50

I added my LR into my 72 halfway through the cycle, I did get a second ammo spike from the LR itself as things in there changed a touch but I still ended up with plenty crawling out.

I dont think it will be a problem.
