I dont think gravel or stone weigh much more than water... a little more but not much more.

and yeah, if it's a concrete floor... you have nothing to worry about.

personally, I don't think foam as a floor is a good idea.

The floors in the appartment are wood and im on the seccond floor. The tank was given to me by a friends mom who had it for 26 years. My girlfirend is worried that the glass bottom will crack and water will go everywere. anything I can do to ease her worries would be cool.

I wouldn't be super concerned with just 55g, I'm attaching what I have on a second floor apartment and it far outweighs any 55 I have ever seen.
I have a 40g breeder, and 2 x 29g

adding a few stones is not going to break the bottom. there's a video around of some guy stacking up a ton of rock and then standing on it... you're not really adding considerable weight, compared to the multiple tanks you have... you have to remove water to add stone...

I assume it is only because my tank sits in the front corner of my appartment and the door frame is underneath my tank.
