D.I.Y. 3D Background - How To - W.I.P.

...$240 USD....gold plated...????

alot of fittings.....
mostly elbows, but the fittings are usually around $2 a piece depending on the type and size.

the fact that I am working with such limited space, and such varying sizes of tubing/pipe, that all need to work/fit together, means that I have to find some odd parts in some cases... or other ways of puttings things together.

3/8" fittings are hard to find, and plastic only raises the price.

the LEDs should be here bright and early next week.

Just a quick update, I'm currently in the process of getting the entire piece sealed up with epoxy...... its freakin shiny, So I hope some of the sheen goes away when its underwater.

The LEDs are also mounted, and looking d*** sharp.... sadly, I still dont have the camera yet... But I promise to get some pictures before I mount it in the tank, as I mount it in the tank, and after its mounted....
I SWEAR!

anxiously awaiting those pics!

Wouldn't the sheen disappear when under water?

After all, wet things normally have a sheen....

This is what I am seriously hoping for, because it is way to shiny right now, it just hides al the detail because everything is reflecting light.

Well, I cant keep waiting for the camera, but I mounted the background in my tank lastnight.

So far it looks ok, Ive got a little bit of silicone cleanup to do, and some smaller touch ups, but its looking good.

HOWEVER...... I forgot to put the *** **** ************* airstones on the air tubes at the bottom of the uplift tubes........ !@$#$%$@#$!@#$#%#$@#$#$%@#$!@#!@$$!@#@#$@#$ ..... no way to get them out now, so it will be big bubbles coming out of the "vents".

Im thinking that the big bubbles though, will increase the water suction force through the UGF plates, since they will float up the tubes with more force, as it were.

still really ****** off that I forgot to put the airstones on......much too late now.

pictures to follow... im going to try and get the camera tonight when i come home from work.

PICTURES!!!!!

Im sorry, I lied, and didnt get pics BEFORE I mounted it, which makes it hard to get the full effect, due to the flash causing glare on the glass (no matter what I did) and other such things. These are the best pics I could get.
The LEDs are actually much brighter in appearence.
